The casting absurdity notwithstanding, Kanye’s new video clip for Power is incredible. A beautiful moving Painting, it evokes Renaissance art, Greek and Egyptian myth, and superhero art. It’s somehow ancient and modern and weirdly futuristic all at once.
Compare, almost any of Alex Ross’s superhero art; this image of Superman fronting the Justice League is similarly evocative:
